Pol BURY (1922-2005)

Fils d'or' sur un Disque, 1970

18ct gold pendant/brooch with two moveable discs, a larger polished gold circle on which is attached a smaller polished circle decorated with a mass of thin filaments. Designed by Bury and made by the goldsmith Jacques Bugin for Galerie Maeght, Paris, in an edition of 30. Original blue box with facsimile signature in gold on the interior.

Marks: signed and numbered on the reverse, Pol Bury, 2/30, and stamped with French 18ct gold hallmarks 

Dimensions: H. 8.0 cm; W. 5.0 cm

Provenance: Mrs B. Carlin, Florida, who purchased it from Joan Sonnabend's Sculpture to Wear gallery in the Plaza Hotl, New York, for $1,500.
